Much has been made of haute hot dogs this year, but sometimes you just want some old-fashioned tube meat. Enter North Central Deli. Owners Paul Cheney and Marguerite Chalmers are channelling the old country, that’s Germany, with their wonderful wursts. On a recent visit, we scored a gyulai kolbasz topped with sweet Bavarian mustard, and it gave us hope for sad desk lunchers the Lowcountry over. Now don’t get us wrong — eating one of North Central Deli’s weiners at work may cause your co-workers to look at you as if you have the face of Admiral Ackbar, but carry on. This dog is worth it.
